Join us for our first seminar in our monthly series for 2020, focusing on Self Defense Fundamentals for Women and Men.
How safe do you feel? How confident are you in your ability to defend yourself if you are put in a potentially violent or traumatic situation?
In this 2.5 hour workshop we will cover key concepts in self defense and personal safety for both women and men. No prior experience in martial arts is necessary, although practicing martial artists will find useful strategies and opportunities to develop their skill.
We will cover:
-Environmental awareness
-Non-violent versus threatening body language
-Prevention as the best tool in your arsenal
-Dealing with a bully
-Martial art basics
-How to throw an effective strike and kick
-How to use the power of your voice
-How to escape a grab to the arm or from behind
-How to defend yourself against a punch
-Strategies when facing multiple attackers
Self defense is first of all a mentality. Personal empowerment to avoid being a victim and instead be truly confident in ourselves is a hallmark of Kung Fu and martial arts in general. Although these skills and qualities take time to develop, there are some basics that everyone should know, and practicing them will turn that mentality into a powerful tool should you need it. Come in your workout clothing and be prepared to sweat a little bit!
